Marvell Made a Triple-Core Mobile Processor Chip, Armada 628

Marvell announced that it has made a triple-core processor chip. These processors, named Armada 628, designed for mobile devices energy efficient.

The announcement of the availability of triple-core processors is done when the world discussing emerging dual-core processor for the mobile industry. The hope, this processor will be used on phones like the BlackBerry or tablet device.

"The product is now being tested by our customers and is expected to be present in devices such as smartphones and tablets at the beginning of next year," said Marvell spokeswoman, as quoted by the Wall Street Journal, 24 September 2010.

628 Fleet chip uses the ARM processor and Marvell three claims that it is the first chip multi-core processor designed to run on mobile devices.

To save power, Marvell uses ARM cores third in the chip to balance the work load between the two other processors. Marvell said, this technique makes the power consumption remains low, making 628 runs in an efficient fleet.

Of the three cores, two of which run at 1.5 GHz and the third core running at 624MHz speed. In total, 628 Fleet chip has 1MB of L2 cache and supports USB 3.0.

With a total strength reaches 3GHz processor, Marvell believes Fleet and process 628 can play HD content. This chip also can handle 3D games.

For information, Marvell Technology Group, a semiconductor company founded in 1995 in Santa Clara, California. The company was founded by and Wonder Sehat Sutardja, two brothers from Jakarta and Weili Dai, Sehat Sutardja wife.

Year 2009, Marvell announced that they also had a quad-core technology for mobile phone processors.
