Luna Maya and Cut Tari Apologize for Video Scandal

Luna Maya and Cut Tari, two female celebrities entangled in the raging Internet hot video controversy, offered public apologies on Thursday in separate media interviews.

The two embattled stars apologized to their fans, but neither of them admitted being the women in the videos that became viral sensations when they were released online.

The videos also allegedly feature popstar Nazril “Ariel” Irham, who is currently being detained by police under the 2008 Anti-Pornography Law and an article in the Criminal Code on public indecency as a suspect for producing and disseminating the videos.

Luna, said to be Ariel’s current girlfriend, apologized “for all the unpleasant news about me” during an interview on Metro TV.

“I would like to apologize to my family and everyone,” she said. “I hope that this matter is solved in a peaceful way and no one will be left disadvantaged by the case.”

On the same day, Cut spoke with reporters from several media outlets at a news conference held at the office of her lawyer, Hotman Paris Hutapea.

A sobbing Cut said: “I would like to apologize to my husband and would like to thank him for always standing beside me when I am in trouble.

“For the legal matters, I leave it to the National Police and my lawyer. I hope that I get hidayah [guidance] after this case.”

Police have yet to file charges against Cut and Luna but both have been named as witnesses in the pornography case against Ariel.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said the police would determine this week whether they would be named or suspects or remain witnesses.

A doctor working with the National Police said that analysis of Cut’s image proved she was indeed one of the woman in the videos. “We are convinced it is Cut Tari in the video,” said the physician, who asked not to be named.

Luna has lost an endorsement deal as an ambassador for Lux soap over the scandal.
